What is a good supplement to take?Any one-a-day multi-vitamin is a joke, you physically can't fit all the nutrients your body needs into one pill, and added to that, any one-a-day vitamin is out there purely to turn a profit, since any company that makes a vitamin would most certainly know that the levels of nutrients that their vitamin are offering are a complete joke, and so to be frank, these companies don't care about you, their vitamins are low level, and even worse the actual absorption that you get from one of these supplements is pretty pathetic. So if you are one of the types of people who refuse to take more than one pill a day, then decide what you want, either take a multi-mineral or take a B-complex. The point is your body needs both minerals and vitamins to survive, all the other pills, the anti-oxidants, forever youngs, and ripped in a days, are not essential to life, but without vitamins and minerals you are dead. My hopes are is that you will take a good B-complex (in the 50 - 100 mg range) and a good multi-mineral (500-1000mg Calcium 250-500mg Magnesium and then a bunch of other minerals listed), but if you are still going to be difficult with me, then make a choice, if you are under a lot of stress all the time then I'd say go for the B-complex, that's going to be what you are the most deficient in. If you are a woman, or athletic, or have trouble sleeping then take your minerals, but I really do hope that you will decide on shoving down just one more measly pill so you really can get all the vitamins and minerals, but hey, it's your body and your life.I'm not going to go off and give you a cheap link to each and every vitamin and mineral in existence, cause there is no reason for me to, the fact is that you need your vitamins and you need your minerals so take a good B-complex (at least 50mg) and a good multi-mineral, and then make sure that you get a good anti-oxidant supplement, and then vary the anti-oxidants you take, since anti-oxidants are fat-soluble they stay in your system and so it really is a good idea to cycle what you take. The problem with looking at the individual vitamins and minerals is that you get caught up in the ohhh... this one does this for me, and ohhh.... I have this problem it must be from this deficiency, well the thing is it probably isn't, and if it is a deficiency then you want to take a balance of nutrients not just mega-dose on one, true there are scenarios when it would be appropriate to mega-dose on certain vitamins and minerals, but that would be more appropriately applied to a by problem solution type index, which isn't anything like prescribing, incase anyone reading this is close to the highly ethical institution known as the FDA. |
